3 Texas teens accused of committing robberies

On Dec. 19, it was announced that Texas authorities reportedly took three people accused of being involved in a string of armed robberies and a car theft into custody. Authorities claimed that the three teens robbed several people at gunpoint in the Harris County area.

Authorities believed that the men initially stole a maroon-colored Chevrolet Traverse from a fast-food eatery near where the alleged robberies occurred. The first target was a home in the 3600 block of Sableglen Road where the three individuals were accused of robbing a person at gunpoint. They then allegedly went to a second home in the 3300 block of Allington Court and robbed several people. At the third home, located in the 12500 block of Rosslare Drive, the men were accused of stealing a video game system and a large flat-screen television.

Following the third alleged robbery, a Harris County deputy reportedly attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop. One individual allegedly jumped out of the moving vehicle and was taken into custody. Deputies continued to follow the vehicle until they came to the intersection of Greenbriag Colony Drive and Weldon Drive. One of the two remaining vehicle occupants reportedly attempted to flee the scene but was taken into custody. All three individuals were charged with three counts of aggravated robbery and one count of burglary.

The penalties for charges related to violent crimes such as robbery or assault can be serious, especially if the accused individuals are underage. If the accused underage individual is tried as an adult, a criminal defense attorney may negotiate with the prosecution to reduce the potential consequences. For example, attorney may seek a sentence that involves community service in lieu of jail time.
